2007 Roy Hobbs World Series

Game 1 Sunday, 10/21 vs. the Chicago Knights, 12-2 loss played at Lee County 3

Game Recap: We gave up an unearned run in the first inning and that proved to be just the first of many.  We did, however, recover in the botoom of the first when Mike Carrell and Joel Schaffer hit back to back triples and we scored two runs to take the lead.  Unfortunately, those turned out to be the only runs we'd score all day.  Our offense never got on track and our defense really let Burnsy down and he left after four innings pitched.  Scott Lawrence releived Kevin in the fifth inning and pitched three solid innings.  Mike Carrell pitched the final inning.  We easily could have played with the Knights but, once our defense went south, the team pretty muched collapsed. May the really late night prior to the game didn't help - but we had a great night.

Game 2 Monday, 10/22 vs. the Destin Dawgs, 8-6 loss Lee County 2

Game Recap:  We played the Dawgs last year and Kevin beat them 11-0 in 7 innings.  I really felt we would win this game pretty easily but Danny just couldn't find the strike zone and gave up eight earned runs in just two plus innings.  Burnsy relieved Danny in the 3rd inning with no outs, four runs scored and two runners on base and shut the Dawgs down for six innings.  He allowed only 3 singles and no walks while striking out 12.  If he had started the game we would have won easily.  As it was, we kept scoring runs and had runners at 2nd and 3rd with two out with Joel, probably our best power threat, hitting in the ninth inning.  Unfortunately, Joel struck out to end the game but he had a great rip at the ball.  If we could have tied the game there in the ninth, I know we would have won the game.  Jason Bast had a breakout game going 3-4 with a triple and Schaff hit a dinger.

Game 3 Monday, 10/22 vs. Mufreesboro Mudcats, 8-2 win Lee County Stadium

Game Recap:  Orlando took the reigns and ran the team for this game and he shook up the line-up.   It proved successful.  We pounded out 16 hits and scored in all but three innings.  Joe pitched and had complete control of this game pretty much right away.  He only allowed a single, unearned run over six solid innings.  We really started to come together as a team in this game and we had a good time even though it was incredibly hot and humid.  We were all very tired after the double header but the beer tasted all the sweeter after this win.  Mike Carrell went 4-5 with a double, stole a base and used his speed by beating out two late inning infield hits with two out and a runner at third.  It was an impressive display hustle.  Jason Bast continued his torrid hitting by again going 3-4 with a double.

Game 4 Tuesday, 10/23 vs. RusStar, 24-4 win (7 innings) Lee County 2

Game Recap:  The Russians made a game of this one early but, inthe end, we knew we'd win this game.  Rudy pitched this game and looked shaky early.  It looked like he was trying to be too fine with his pitches and wasn't getting outs.  I had Burnsy warming up just in case but, eventually, Rudy turned things around and started getting outs quickly.  The Russians pitching was terrible and the one American guy that pitched against us was only so-so.  It turned into a BP session for us we got 14 hits and scored 24 runs.  Joel had another good game going 2-3 with two doubles.  Jason Bast is on fire going 4-4 with a walk and scoring all five times up.  Scott Lawrence had a great game 4-5 and driving in 5 runs.
