MILLERS GO 5-1 AT 2011 RHWS

It's a familiar story for the boys in black.  Play well early in the week and struggle late.  This year we started 5-0 and then lost in the first round of the playoffs and it was over.  "Thanks for coming, thanks for your money, enjoy your stay in Southwest Florida", seemed to be the response form the Hobbs staff.  I, for one, am getting pretty tired of it all.  What do we have to do to win at the end of the week?  Is it really worth all the hassle?  Check out the Game Info page for all the gory details.

MILLERS START 5-0 AT 2011 RHWS

It's a familiar story for the boys in black but this year they hope to change the ending.  In the last four appearances at Hobbs the Millers have started 4-0 three times and 3-1 once only to see all the effort go for naught early in the playoffs.  Hopes are high for this tournament, however, as we just got our best catcher and one of our better hitters in camp Tuesday night in the form of Mike McCallion.  We still have lots of pitching available and our offense seems to be rolling right along with a team .392 average through the first five games and our defense has been solid as well.  Only time will tell so stay tuned.  See the game info page for details.

MILLERS ARE READY FOR ANOTHER RUN AT 2011 RHWS

The Millers have added another key player in Mike "Mac" McCallion for 2011 and have high expectations despite the the continued absence of ace pitcher Kevin Burns.  We lost catcher Tom Fisher due to the schedule change at RHWS but we still figure we have it covered with Mac as 'the best kept secret at shortstop' in his mind anyway. "They won't let me play shortstop because I make it look too easy and it makes them look so bad", Mac was recently quoted as saying in the East Bloomington Shopper Gazette.  Check out the Game Info page to keep up with all of the details.

Welcome to the home of the Minneapolis Millers Baseball Team.  The Millers are a group of guys that play summer baseball for a variety of teams in the Twin Cities metro area.  They also come together for a few games during the summer as well as playing a full fall league schedule before they travel to Fort Myers, Florida to play in the Roy Hobbs World Series.  In past years they have played under the name of the Minnesota Saints but in 2003 there was a management shakeup that led to a name and uniform change.  The name was taken from the old minor league team that used to play at Nicollet Park in south Minneapolis.  To honor that team they have modeled their uniforms on that team's uniform from the early 1950's.

The old Millers team played in the American Association from 1902 to 1960 and spent most of their tenure with the Red Sox and Giants organizations.  Some notable stars that played for the Millers include Hall Of Famers Roger Bresnahan, Jimmy Collins, Urban 'Red' Faber, Bill McKechnie, George Kelly, Billy Herman, Ted Williams, Ray 'Dandy' Dandridge, Willie Mays, Zack Wheat, Rube Waddell, Hoyt Wilhelm, Monte Irvin, Orlando Cepeda and Carl Yastrzemski.  And the great Jimmie Foxx was a Millers coach in 1958.

We try to keep this website updated as much as possible so that our fans at home can follow our progress.  So check back often for updates.  Thanks for being a part of the Millers family!
