MILLERS FINISH 5-2 AT 2012 RHWS

We didn't get as far as we had hoped but, overall, it was a pretty good week for the Millers in Southwest Florida. We only lost to one team but we lost to them twice in 24 hours. I really thought we'd take them down the second time around but it wasn't meant to be. Watch for updates on the Game Info page.

MILLERS START 4-0 AT 2012 RHWS

It's been a fun first part of the week here at the RHWS. We're short on pitching and scrambling to get through each game. It didn't help that we had to go to a 12th inning shootout in our first game on Sunday morning. We were down to the Russians for most of the game but we pulled it out in the end. Everyone has been playing well and we're doing the best we can. We find out this evening when and where we play tomorrow. We did play at the new Boston Red Sox complex, JetBlue Park. It was a very nice park but the wind was blowing hard in all day so no cam close to challenging the Green Monster. We got some great photos though that I'll post when I can. Welcome to the home of the Minneapolis Millers Baseball Team. The Millers are a group of guys that play summer baseball for a variety of teams in the Twin Cities metro area. They also come together for a few games during the summer as well as playing a full fall league schedule before they travel to Fort Myers, Florida to play in the Roy Hobbs World Series. In past years they have played under the name of the Minnesota Saints but in 2003 there was a management shakeup that led to a name and uniform change. The name was taken from the old minor league team that used to play at Nicollet Park in south Minneapolis. To honor that team they have modeled their uniforms on that team's uniform from the early 1950's.

The old Millers team played in the American Association from 1902 to 1960 and spent most of their tenure with the Red Sox and Giants organizations. Some notable stars that played for the Millers include Hall Of Famers Roger Bresnahan, Jimmy Collins, Urban 'Red' Faber, Bill McKechnie, George Kelly, Billy Herman, Ted Williams, Ray 'Dandy' Dandridge, Willie Mays, Zack Wheat, Rube Waddell, Hoyt Wilhelm, Monte Irvin, Orlando Cepeda and Carl Yastrzemski. And the great Jimmie Foxx was a Millers coach in 1958.
