MILLERS OUSTED IN AA QUARTERFINALS AT RHWS

The Millers squandered a golden opportunity to make a run a championship in Fort Myers when they lost an 8th inning lead to the Ohio Indians on Friday afternoon.  See the Game Info page for more info.

MILLERS READY FOR 2010 RHWS

The Millers have added several key players for 2010 and have high expectations despite the loss of ace pitcher Kevin Burns.  We also lost outfielders Jeff Patterson and Dan Lundgren but we still figure we have it covered with 'slick fielding infielder playing the outfield' Mike Carrell in total control of the situation.  "Who are our outfileders now", he asked after Lundy hurt his shoulder playing hockey.  "You", I told him.  "Perfect, I've got it covered.  See you in FL." was his response.  That's all I needed to hear.  We did pick up another good lefty pitcher in Mike "Fierlo" Fier and Joe-Joe Perzel is back and better than ever after is torn patella tendon incident last year.  We also added catcher Tom "Fish" Fisher and pitcher utility man Kevin Mueller.  We're still trying to find a nickname for Kevin, send us any ideas you may have.  Check out the Game Info page to keep up with all of the details.  Obviously there is going to be a lot of updating on the Roster page too.  We'll keep updating the site as best as possible.

Welcome to the home of the Minneapolis Millers Baseball Team.  The Millers are a group of guys that play summer baseball for a variety of teams in the Twin Cities metro area.  They also come together for a few games during the summer as well as playing a full fall league schedule before they travel to Fort Myers, Florida to play in the Roy Hobbs World Series.  In past years they have played under the name of the Minnesota Saints but in 2003 there was a management shakeup that led to a name and uniform change.  The name was taken from the old minor league team that used to play at Nicollet Park in south Minneapolis.  To honor that team they have modeled their uniforms on that team's uniform from the early 1950's.

The old Millers team played in the American Association from 1902 to 1960 and spent most of their tenure with the Red Sox and Giants organizations.  Some notable stars that played for the Millers include Hall Of Famers Roger Bresnahan, Jimmy Collins, Urban 'Red' Faber, Bill McKechnie, George Kelly, Billy Herman, Ted Williams, Ray 'Dandy' Dandridge, Willie Mays, Zack Wheat, Rube Waddell, Hoyt Wilhelm, Monte Irvin, Orlando Cepeda and Carl Yastrzemski.  And the great Jimmie Foxx was a Millers coach in 1958.

We try to keep this website updated as much as possible so that our fans at home can follow our progress.  So check back often for updates.  Thanks for being a part of the Millers family!
